West Brom offer Sinclair way out of City

Steve Clarke is ready to offer Manchester City misfit Scott Sinclair the chance to resurrect his career at West Bromwich Albion.

Scott Sinclair watched from the fringes far too often
Sinclair has already played for ten different clubs in his career

Clarke expects West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace to give the go-ahead to official negotiations with City aimed at bringing the winger to The Hawthorns on loan next season, a source has told ESPN.

Albion have been long-term admirers of Sinclair, 24, and believe they can offer him the perfect environment to shine after a miserable season at City saw him restricted to just three starts under the management of Roberto Mancini.

Head coach Clarke faces competition from Everton and Southampton as Sinclair awaits talks about his immediate future with new City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Sinclair plans to meet Pellegrini in the next two weeks, and sources close to the player claim he is looking to persuade the Spaniard to loan him out for the season, although it is thought City would prefer a permanent transfer.

Just over a year ago, Sinclair was being touted as a possible England international, but now he is at an important crossroads in his career after his frustrating time at City.

He has three years remaining on a contract worth around £40,000-a-week at the City of Manchester Stadium following his £6.2 million transfer from Swansea last summer.

Albion sporting and technical director Richard Garlick confirmed earlier this week that the Baggies are eager to add to their attacking options, with the focus on strikers and wide players.

Peter Odemwingie and Jerome Thomas will both leave the club this summer, and Peace is a keen advocate of using the domestic loan regulations following the success of Romelu Lukaku last season.

Sinclair's current wages fall in line with the highest earners at The Hawthorns, but Albion are hopeful they can strike a deal to pay around 50% of his City wages, which would fall well within their financial guidelines.

Swansea have also been linked with a move for their former player, who will be unable to train until August as he recovers from surgery to remove a blood clot from his shoulder.

But the likelihood that Sinclair is likely to miss most of pre-season will not prevent Clarke from pressing ahead with his bid to bring the player in.
