Moratti not worried by tax probe

Finance officials in Italy have ordered several Serie A clubs to hand over documents as an investigation into alleged tax avoidance continues.

The Italian Guardia di Finanza - financial police - conducted the morning operation with Neapolitan prosecutors on Wednesday.

Officers took paperwork from 41 different club offices, with some reports suggesting search warrants had been used in dawn raids.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said there was "nothing to worry about" despite his club being one of those ordered to hand over documents.

Moratti said there had been no "perquisition" - defined as a thorough inquiry of search - at Inter, telling the club's official website: "It was a request for documents.

"It was something they've done with about 40 clubs, so I understand how it could happen to us.

"It's clear they must have good reason to go round all the clubs. I don't do their job, so we will just have to wait and find out what's going on."

He said documents had been taken "that were of interest, just like they've taken them from Napoli and from AC Milan and so on and so on", adding: "These things happen. There's nothing to worry about."

Serie A clubs Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Parma were all visited by agents, with Bari, Siena and Palermo among the Serie B outfits to hand over documents.
