Agent: Handanovic not moving to Barca

The agent of Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has claimed that Victor Valdes’ plan to stay at Barcelona for one more year has scuppered his client’s chances of a move to the Camp Nou.

With Valdes unwilling to extend his Barca contract beyond its June 2014 end date, the Catalan club were reportedly considering a €30 million move for Handanovic.

The reports were taken seriously enough for Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti to publicly call for Handanovic to remain at the San Siro.

Elsewhere, there was also talk that Inter’s recent move to secure 100% of the 'keeper's rights from Udinese was a sign of a possible sale.

However, any move to Catalonia is now off the agenda, agent Federico Pastorelli has said, as there will be no vacancy between the blaugrana side's goalposts next season.

“We are used to big players possibly moving at any moment, but I do not believe there is any news,” Pastorelli told Mundo Deportivo. “Barca’s offer? I am not certain about it. The idea was linked to Valdes’ exit, he seemed to be set for Monaco.”

Handanovic joined Inter from Udinese in the summer of 2012, and has three more years left to run on his current Nerazzurri contract.

Other Valdes replacements reportedly under consideration by Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta include Manchester United’s David De Gea, Liverpool’s Pepe Reina and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marc Andre ter Stegen.
