Hamburg have outlined their interest in signing Arsenal defender Johan Djourou this summer.
Djourou, 26, has been tipped to leave the Gunners on a permanent basis during the transfer window after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Hannover.
The Switzerland international confirmed in April that he would be open to returning to Hannover, but the club could face competition from their Bundesliga counterparts Hamburg.
"I know Johan very well from my time in Switzerland [with Basel]," Oliver Kreuzer, Hamburg's sporting director, is quoted as saying in the Guardian.
"He's a very interesting player and someone you have to look at if he comes on the market. He'd be a great solution for us in defence. We're interested in a loan, but also in buying him."
