Jese scored his third goal of the tournament with the Real Madrid winger's solitary strike against the African side maintaining the Spaniards perfect record of two victories from two games.

France had the chance to join their European neighbours in the next round but a late United States equaliser halted their progress with a 1-1 draw. Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo put the French ahead just after the half-time break, but with only five minutes left on the clock, the US struck back through Daniel Cuevas.

Spain lead Group A on six points with France second (four points), the US third (one point) and Ghana sitting bottom of the table.

Elsewhere, Portugal and Korea Republic remain at the head of Group B after the Asian nation twice came from behind to record a 2-2 draw.

Portugal forward Aladje got his side off to the perfect start with a goal in the third minute, but the Koreans hit back on the stroke of half-time through Ryu Seungwoo.

Sporting's Bruma put the Portuguese back in front on the 60th minute only for Kim Hyun to secure a point for his team 16 minutes later.

In Group B's other game, Nigeria strolled to a 3-0 victory over Cuba to move a point behind the leaders.

Aminu Umar was the hero for the Nigerians, grabbing an early brace before Abdul Ajagun rounded out the scoring in the second-half.
