AVB draws line under PSG speculation

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed he has a strong friendship with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi but insisted he is not tempted to take over as coach of the Ligue 1 champions.

• Horncastle: PSG and the future • AVB confident Bale will stay • Fitch: Early liveners just the tonic

Villas-Boas has been heavily linked with a move to PSG this summer and speculation he was in talks with the club is unlikely to be quelled by his admission that he "speaks regularly" with Al-Khelaifi.

However, the Portuguese boss says he is determined to demonstrate his loyalty to Spurs after they gave him a second chance in England following his difficult spell as Chelsea boss.

"I have had a friendship for some time with the president of PSG," Villas-Boas told A Bola. "He is a friend, we speak regularly, but my commitment is with Tottenham.

"It was the club that allowed me to return to the Premier League and I feel good there."

With the PSG conjecture now behind him, Villas-Boas is looking forward to his second season at Tottenham and he is especially excited about the prospect ot locking horns with the coach who gave him his big break in the game, newly re-installed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

"It will be special to play against Chelsea, particularly against a person who was instrumental in my career," Villas-Boas added. "It will be great to meet Mourinho."

Villas-Boas went on to confirm his club will not look to sign FC Porto's £25 million striker Jackson Martinez this summer and suggested a rumoured move for Atletico Mineiro midfielder Bernard was not on his agenda either.
