Orlando: Kaka could join us

Orlando City coach Adrian Heath says Kaka could be lining up for his side in the MLS in two years' time.

Kaka has been linked with a move to the MLS

Brazilian playmaker Kaka has long been linked with move to the U.S. from Real Madrid, as well as with returns to either his homeland or his former Serie A side AC Milan.

However, his reported €10 million-a-year salary and apparent unwillingness to take a pay cut has complicated any potential transfer away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Kaka’s contract has two years left to run, meaning he would be a more affordable option in the summer of 2015.

And former Everton striker and Sheffield United manager Heath said this could open the door to a move to the ambitious Orlando outfit - who currently play in the USL Pro, the U.S.’s third tier.

“If we make it to the MLS in 2015, Kaka would play with us,” Heath told Orlando channel WFTV 9 in comments reported by AS.

“It is very likely. You do not have to be [Albert] Einstein to know that his contract ends the same year as we are planning to make the jump to the MLS. If Kaka ends up playing in the U.S. league it would mean we had been accepted.”

Kaka - reportedly a friend of Flavio Augusto da Silva, who is one of the team’s backers - attended Orlando training last week, where he was pictured with club co-owner Phil Rawlins.
