Members of Spain's Confederations Cup squad have claimed they have been robbed at their hotel in the Brazilian city of Recife.

FIFA confirmed on Thursday that police are investigating the incident, but spokesman Pekka Odriozola said he had no details of what happened.

Reports in the Spanish media say that several players were targeted by thieves, with Marca claiming that six - including Gerard Pique - reported items stolen from their rooms.

A spokeswoman for the Spanish team declined to comment.

La Roja were staying in the area for Sunday's 2-1 win over Uruguay, which was played in the nearby Arena Pernambuco.

Spain meet Tahiti at the Estadio Do Maracana in Rio de Janiero on Thursday.
