MLS taps Stevenson, Abbott
Former Pac-12 media executive Gary Stevenson, along with former MLS president Mark Abbott were named Wednesday to key MLS front office posts, MLS commissioner Don Garber said in a press release.
Stevenson, who has held executive positions with Pac-12 Enterprises, NBA and the PGA Tour, is tasked with overseeing "commercial and revenue areas" for MLS.
Abbott, who was MLS president from 2006-13 and was the "organization's first employee in 1993," will oversee operations and competition as well as business development.
"His leadership will continue to help us move toward our goal of becoming one of the top professional soccer leagues in the world by 2022," Garber said of Abbott.
