Sanogo impressed by Wenger

Yaya Sanogo has said he was "impressed" by the way Arsenal have gone about securing his services.

Auxerre striker Sanogo, 20, is poised to sign for the North Londoners when the summer transfer window opens, and told France Football that a meeting with manager Arsene Wenger had persuaded him to join.

"Gilles Grimandi [Arsenal scout] came to see me from time to time at Auxerre too," he said. "One day he called me for a meeting in a Paris hotel and Arsene Wenger was there. I was very impressed.

"Wenger told me I would get opportunities and reassured me about my injury [he suffered a leg injury three years ago]. He told me he had followed me for years.

"That meeting was very important, and today I am an Arsenal player."

Auxerre said at the end of May that Sanogo was unlikely to be loaned back to them because Wenger planned to use him as part of the first team.

And the Frenchman said he could not wait to kick-start his career in the Premier League with the Gunners.

"It will be an amazing adventure," he added. "I am just eager to start in one of the best leagues in the world. It is a dream that has come true."
