Soldado unsure of starting spot

Spain forward Roberto Soldado admitted he is unlikely to hold down a starting position within the Confederations Cup squad despite scoring in the 2-1 win over Uruguay.

• Blog: Same dominant Spain

Spain got off to the perfect start in the tournament, Soldado's goal, along with Pedro's opener, securing three-points from the opening game of Group B.

Uruguay replied via a stunning Luis Suarez free-kick.

But despite the victory, Spain was unable to convert dominance into gilt-edged chances and Soldado fears he may suffer the consequences.

"I do not know if I'll ever be a starter, that is decided by the coach," Soldado told goal.com. "I do not know if I'll hold the place again, that's a coach's decision."

"The penalty was that we had chances, but the goals did not come.

"We're happy because we've faced a very tough opponent and we have won. You cannot ease off for a second, despite a 2-0 lead."

However, Spain manager Vicente del Bosque said he was satisfied with the result, believing his team had put themselves on the road to advance further in the competition.

"[I am satisfied] not only by the performance of the first half, but also by the second. We played well, although everything was marred by the end, " he told reporters.

"We grew very tired in the last minutes. It is normal with the high temperature that we suffer.

"They are three great points that place us in the best position to put us in the semi-finals."
