Scolari close to deciding Brazil's best

Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari believes Sunday's 3-0 win over Japan in the Confederations Cup opener has finally helped him decide the Selecao's strongest line-up.

Goals to Neymar, Paulinho and Jo saw Brazil win comfortably and give them the early ascendency in Group A. Scolari is confident the dominant performance will prove decisive in his team selection for the remainder of the tournament and heading into next year's World Cup.

"My feeling is that we're finding the best lineup," Scolari said. "Little by little, with backup options that help us a lot when they come into the pitch. We'll only get better with time."

Neymar broke a nine-match goal drought with a wonder strike in the third minute and Scolari believes the Barcelona forward was critical to reigniting Brazil's spark.

"I've said it already, Neymar is a fine player, who may not be on his best sometimes, but is a great talent, he can make a difference," Scolari added. "The team spirit, the dynamics of this group of players, must also be highlighted."

Neymar was quick to deflect the praise from himself but insists the goal was a confidence boost after being criticised for his international form of late.

The 21-year-old also allayed injury concerns after being substituted in the second half.

"I am delighted to have scored. I always say that I want to evolve my game, and want the team to play as a group," Neymar said. "I am fine and ready for the next match, and for every match. I always think about my family and get inspired to play."
