Flamengo have named former Brazil coach Mano Menezes as their new manager, a club statement has confirmed.
Menezes, 51, was sacked as national coach despite a two-year spell in which he won popularity for restoring Brazil to a more attacking style and appearing close to finding a consistent formula after advocating a long-term approach.
He said he was delighted to have secured the job at Flamengo, where he succeeds Jorginho - who was axed after only 14 games in charge - writing on Twitter: "I'm very proud."
Flamengo are in need of stability after a spell in which they have suffered both financial problems and fluctuating fortunes.
They have won just one of their first five games in the Brazilian championship this season, and lie 14th.
