Guardiola brings video analyst to Bayern

Pep Guardiola has taken another step in his Bayern Munich preparations by hiring former Schalke video analyst Lars Kornetka.

Bayern have added the 35-year old to their backroom staff after his contract at Schalke expired – a move being described in the German press as a "transfer coup".

Kornetka is responsible for video analysis during half-time but is also is involved in both pre-match preparation and post-match analysis.

"The visualisation helps to realise mistakes and understand them," Kornetka told Schalke's official website last year.

"It is easier for a player to judge his movements and tactical behaviour on the pitch. The feeling for a situation is subjective, and is often perceived differently to reality.

"We show particularly notable things during the week. Most of all, we look at the strengths and the weaknesses of the teams. We want to find out how we can beat the opponent, and want to transfer that to the players."

Guardiola's intense video analysis of opponents has been cited as a major factor in his success at Barcelona, where he won the Champions League twice and La Liga three times during his four years in charge at the Camp Nou.
