Prandelli: Haiti draw 'an embarrassment'
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli admits he was left "embarrassed" after his side were held to a 2-2 draw with Haiti in an international friendly on Tuesday.
The Azzurri looked to be cruising with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals to Emanuele Giaccherini and Claudio Marchisio, but late strikes from Olrish Saurel and Jean Phillipe Peguero salvaged a memorable draw for Haiti.
The 63rd-ranked Caribbean side dented Italy's preparations ahead of their Confederations Cup campaign, which begins against Mexico on June 16.
Prandelli was critical of his players' performances following the match, insisting there were no excuses for the result.
"It is certainly a bad result, and an embarrassing one, because a draw with Haiti is an embarrassment," he told Rai Sport. "We arrived yesterday and made many changes. We should've been different in terms of spirit today.
"We have to take many aspects into consideration, most importantly we need to find our physical sharpness. We've worked towards this and you could see today we lost every single sprint, so we hope in five days the team can begin to deliver."
