PSG consider AVB approach - reports

Paris Saint-Germain may be set to make a surprise move to lure Andre Villas-Boas from Tottenham, according to reports on Sky Italia.

• Blanc plays down PSG link

The French champions look certain to lose current manager Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid in the coming days and with Jose Mourinho turning down their advances in favour of a return to Chelsea, the ambitious Parisian club are running out of options in the search for a successor.

Reports linking Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with a move to PSG have been persistently dismissed by the veteran Frenchman, who appeats set to see out the final year of his current Gunners contract at the very least.

A move for his north London rival Villas-Boas would be seen as something of a gamble from PSG sporting director Leonardo, but it would certainly hand the Portuguese a dilemma to consider after just one season as Spurs boss.

Reports linking Villas-Boas with a move to Napoli last month proved to be without foundation and it remains to be seen whether these rumours are backed up with a formal approach by PSG, yet the news would come as a blow to Spurs' hierarchy.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is believed to be on the brink of shaking up the club's structure, appointing Italian Franco Baldini as sporting director at the request of Villas-Boas and any suggestion that the coach he has put so much faith in may walk away from his post would be an unsettling development.

Several British newspapers have run stories suggesting Villas-Boas may be tempted by a move to Paris, yet none feature quotes from PSG officials, the Spurs manager or his advisers.
