Suarez: I lost it when biting Ivanovic

Luis Suarez admits he "completely lost it" before biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, blaming the incident on the anger he felt after giving away a penalty earlier in the match.

• Blog: Don't safeguard old guard

Suarez was banned for ten games following the incident - the latest in a long line of on-field indiscretions.

The Liverpool striker admitted he let himself and his club down and, with six matches of his suspension still remaining, issued an apology.

"I know I made a mistake in the incident with Ivanovic - it was me, my fault, and he didn't do anything to me.

"I was just angry as I had given away a penalty for handball a few minutes earlier. I saw red and completely lost it.

"I can't really explain it and I am so sorry - but the reaction was amazing."

Suarez, currently on international duty with Uruguay, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks, and the 26-year-old said: "I'd like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo. You never know - but it's complicated."
