Mourinho: I am the happy one

Jose Mourinho has described himself as the "happy one" in his first press conference since returning to Chelsea.

• Delaney: Happily ever after?
• 'Humble' Jose wants stability
• Palmer: The Abramovich Years
• Brewin: Back at the Bridge
• Mourinho in quotes
• No favours for old guard
• Mourinho dismisses Iniesta jibe

Mourinho, unveiled a week after signing a contract, kept the media waiting before walking in to be faced by a scrum of journalists and photographers.

Much had been made of whether he would refer to himself as "the Special One", as he did nine years ago.

He was asked about that nickname in his first question, and responded by saying: "I am the happy one.

"I am the same person, I have the same heart and have the same emotions. If I had to describe myself, I am a very happy person and it is the first time I arrive already loving the club."

Mourinho insisted his exit from Chelsea in 2007 had been by mutual consent and denied his relationship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich was broken.

The coach is desperate to get to work on the training ground, but he will be spending the next few weeks shaping his squad before the players return for pre-season training.

"I think I am in the best moment of my career in terms of knowledge and experience," he said. "I am sorry pre-season doesn't start tomorrow.

"I have come here to give my best. I want to be respected for what I did in the past, but I want to be loved for what I can do from now.

"I am where I want to be. So now it is up to me to work hard and show my club that I deserve to be here for a long time."
