Ajax central defender Toby Alderweireld would look for a move to either England or Germany if he leaves the Dutch champions, with Liverpool and Tottenham reportedly interested in him.
Alderweireld, 24, has also been linked with a move to the Russian League, but told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf he wanted to either join a Bundesliga club or move to England.
“England and Germany are the best leagues, where I think I can take the next step,” the Belgian explained. "I have to go somewhere where I can play football a bit, and where my style of play suits.
"I do not want to play for a team at the bottom of their league. I want to leave Ajax for a nice club, otherwise I'll just stay in Amsterdam."
Alderweireld, who can also play in midfield, was strongly linked with a move to Anfield following the retirement of Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher at the end of last season.
