UEFA to look into music incident

UEFA will investigate the playing of music that included racially offensive lyrics prior to England Under-21s' defeat to Norway.

England lost 3-1 to Norway on Saturday, condemning Stuart Pearce's side to a group stage exit for the second successive tournament.

The main talking point before the Group A clash was the choice of music in Petah Tikva, where a song using racially offensive language was played into the stadium.

The incident at Ha Moshava came just under an hour before kick-off and was followed by an anti-racism message from Europe's governing body.

Responding to the incident, UEFA said: "There was a misunderstanding regarding instructions to the local DJ about acceptable lyrics inside the stadium. The process will be reviewed accordingly.''

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
