Brazil on the right path, says Cris

Former Brazil international Cris has said he believes Luiz Felipe Scolari is getting things right as he prepares his team for the 2014 World Cup on home soil.

Cris, 35, left Galatasaray and returned to his native country to join Gremio in January after almost nine years in Europe. All but the last six months were spent at Lyon, where he won four Ligue 1 titles.

The centre-back visited the France squad's training camp ahead of Sunday's friendly meeting with the Selecao to catch up with former Lyon team-mates Hugo Lloris, Karim Benzema and Bafetimbi Gomis.

He told the L'Equipe website he felt it would be tough for France to overcome Brazil, adding: "Brazil are right in the middle of their preparation for the Confederations Cup.

"The team has been working together for a while, and Scolari is putting his squad in place. We're not yet ready to win the World Cup, but we're starting to see the improvement.

"We already lost a World Cup in Brazil in 1950. The pressure will be enormous, but you're used to that when you play for Brazil. They will be ready."

Cris, capped 17 times by Brazil, also said he believed France would qualify, explaining: "Both teams are under construction, but there are great talents in each of them.

"Didier Deschamps is doing good work. I'm sure France will qualify for the World Cup."
