Source: Iago Aspas to Liverpool
Liverpool are on course to complete the £7.7 million (9 million euros) signing of striker Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo within the next 48 hours, a source told ESPN.
Aspas scored 12 goals in 34 matches during the season just completed to help his club survive in the Spanish top flight.
A fee was agreed between Liverpool and Celta Vigo last week, and the player is expected on Merseyside for a medical once a few minor details regarding the deal have been sorted out.
The 25-year-old, who can play as a main forward, a second striker or out wide, broke into Celta Vigo's first team in 2008 after graduating from their youth set-up.
He is set to become Liverpool's second signing of the summer, following the arrival of central defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is considering moves for Shakhtar Donetsk's Armenian attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Schalke's Greece international centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos. And the club are understood to have made a £3 million (3.5 million euros) offer for Sporting Lisbon central defender Tiago Ilori.
The 20-year-old is currently on duty with Portugal at the Toulon Tournament in France.
