Gerrard rehabilitation on track

Liverpool have insisted that Steven Gerrard will be fit in time for the start of the 2013-14 season.

Gerrard, 33, is currently sidelined after undergoing shoulder surgery that ensured he missed the end of last campaign.

Recent reports have suggested the midfielder is struggling to be ready for the beginning of the forthcoming term, but Liverpool have confirmed otherwise.

A statement on their official website said: "The club can report that Gerrard's recovery remains fully on track.

"As stated originally, the club's medical team are confident that the midfielder is on schedule for his comeback and expect Gerrard to be fit and ready for pre-season training."
