Agent talks up Negredo to Napoli move

Alvaro Negredo’s agent says his client likes the idea of playing under Rafa Benitez for Napoli in next season’s Champions League.

Sevilla have a selection headache after it was confirmed that striker Alvaro Negredo injured his hamstring
Alvaro Negredo has scored 70 goals in 139 games for Sevilla

The Sevilla striker, 27, is expected to follow Jesus Navas out of the heavily-indebted La Liga club this summer, with Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Fiorentina, West Ham and Everton among the sides reportedly interested and the Andalucians are holding out for a fee of around £20 million.

His representative Juanma Lopez told tuttomercatoweb.com that Benitez had long been an admirer, and teaming up together at the Stadio San Paolo could suit all parties.

"Napoli is one of the possibilities we are looking at because Negredo is a player who Rafa Benitez likes,” Lopez said. “Negredo wants to play in the Champions League and Napoli offers him that chance."

Negredo hit 25 goals in 36 La Liga games last term, including four in the final day 4-3 win over Valencia. He was nevertheless left out of the Spain squad for this summer’s Confederation Cup, with La Roja boss Vicente del Bosque preferring Valencia’s Roberto Soldado and Chelsea’s Fernando Torres.
