Sven-Goran Eriksson has been appointed as head coach of Chinese club Guangzhou R& F.
The former England, Manchester City and Lazio manager, 65, left his role as technical director at Dubai club Al Nasr on Monday, saying he would reveal "in a couple of days" whether he would return to coaching.
But a statement on Guangzhou's official website confirmed that Eriksson had agreed an 18-month deal to take over, and he will link up with former Premier League star Yakubu Aiyegbeni who he managed at Leicester.
The statement read: "The club's board of directors has today officially hired Sven-Goran Eriksson as Guangzhou football coach until December 2014.
"Coach Li Bing will from today no longer serve as the acting head coach."
In a varied managerial career Eriksson has also managed the Mexico and Ivory Coast national sides, Roma, Sampdoria and Benfica.
