Roberto Carlos named Sivasspor boss
Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor have appointed Roberto Carlos as their new head coach.
The former Brazil international and Real Madrid star spent a year playing in Turkey with Fenerbahce before retiring as a player at Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
Carlos has spent the past year working behind the scenes with Anzhi boss Guus Hiddink, but revealed his delight at taking the reins of a club himself.
"This is one of the most important days of my life," he told the Sivasspor official website. "I'm pleased to be here and first of all I want to thank the president (Mecnun Odyakmaz) for giving me this chance.
"This will be a team effort and we have lofty ambitions. I would like to see the stadium full for every game while we strive to bring success on the field."
Carlos takes over from Riza Calimbay at the Sivas 4 Eylul Stadium after Sivasspor finished a disappointing 12th in the Super Lig last campaign.
