Juve target Higuain confirms intention to leave Madrid

Gonzalo Higuain has confirmed that he intends to leave Real Madrid in the summer and indicated that he would be keen to join Juventus.

Higuain, 25, has been strongly linked with a move to Juve, with Madrid expected to retain Karim Benzema rather than the Argentina international.

"I am leaving Real Madrid,” Higuain told journalists after his side’s victory over Osasuna. “The decision has been made. I feel the time is right, and I want a change of scenery.

"I have not decided where I will go, but the club already know that I want to go. It was my decision. I want to go where I can prove myself, really. I have several offers. I hope that they [Madrid] do the best for me and for themselves."

Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with an interest in the striker, but it would appear that he is more likely to move to Turin.

Asked about a switch to Juve, he said the chance to partner Fernando Llorente “would be wonderful” and added: "They are a possibility, but I do not know.”

He stressed that he wanted to go “to a club that really loves me” and hailed the Italian champions.

“Juve are a historic club,” he said. “The biggest stars have played there.”
