Eriksson ends spell at Al Nasr

Sven-Goran Eriksson brought down the curtain on his brief spell as technical director of Dubai club Al Nasr and said he would reveal "in a couple of days" whether he would return to coaching.

Reports last month said Eriksson, 65, was in talks about taking over as manager of Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.

But after confirming that he was stepping down from Al Nasr, the former England manager said there were "other solutions" as well as a possible switch to China.

Eriksson had been expected to take over as Al Nasr coach from Walter Zenga, whose contract was terminated at the weekend, but said he would be leaving the club he had joined in January.

"I'm leaving Al Nasr and Dubai," he was quoted as saying by newspaper The National. "I have done what I set out to do: I looked at football schools, academies and the first team, and I've given my advice on everything.

"I might have a possibility to go back into coaching somewhere. You will know that in a couple of days."

Last month, officials at Guangzhou R&F had said Eriksson had begun negotiations. "Eriksson is one of the candidates," club spokeswoman Chen Jie added. "The club is currently in talks with him. However, it [an appointment] has not been finalised yet."

Guangzhou R&F finished seventh in the China Super League last season and are keen to close the gap on city rivals Guangzhou Evergrande, who are managed by Marcello Lippi.
