A number of Russian clubs have registered an interest in signing Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse, his agent has said.
Reports earlier this week suggested Anzhi Makhachkala were keen to go ahead with a bid of just over £15 million for the 27-year-old.
However, it is believed the Magpies want significantly more to even consider parting with the Senegal international, who still has four years remaining on his contract.
Cisse’s agent, Nickolay Guido, said Anzhi’s involvement in next season’s Europa League would appeal to his client should a fee with Newcastle be agreed.
"Russian clubs have shown interest in Papiss at the same time, but I don't want to name the names of the clubs as it wouldn't be a correct step from me," Guido said.
"Anzhi have the advantage that they could qualify for the Europa League. His dream has been to show his qualities in Europe, and it doesn't seem possible with Newcastle in the near future.”
Despite an explosive start to life on Tyneside, which saw him net 13 goals in 14 Premier League games in the 2011-12 season, Cisse struggled at times last term, managing 13 goals from 47 games.
