Agent denies blame for failed QPR deals

Mark Hughes' advisor, football agent Kia Joorbachian, has denied responsibility for signing a string of under-performing players at QPR while the Welshman was in charge at Loftus Road.

Hughes, 49, has been appointed Stoke City manager after six months out of the game following his sacking by Rangers last year, which critics blame on his failure in the transfer market.

The former Manchester United player made 16 signings at QPR, with very few of them firing as the club finished bottom of the Premier League.

Joorbachian has dismissed suggestions he was the man behind Hughes' decisions, insisting he was only involved in the signing of standout goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

"I'm always interested to read or hear that I was responsible for so many of the players signed by QPR last season," Joorabchian told BBC Sport. "In fact I was only involved with the signing of one, Julio Cesar.

"When Mark was at Fulham [in the 2010-11 season], I only represented two of the players the club signed during that period - Mousa Dembele and Carlos Salcido."
