Santa Fe cruise into semis

Colombian side Santa Fe secured their qualification to the Copa Libertadores semi-finals after beating Peru's Real Garcilaso 2-0 to claim a 5-1 aggregate win.

After the win in Cusco, Santa Fe made a fast start in Bogota and they took the lead after seven minutes when striker Jeferson Cuero netted from long distance.

Fabio Ramos went close to equalising in the 26th minute, but his effort flew just wide of the far post.

Wilder Medina could have widened the gap for Santa Fe 10 minutes after the interval, but Real Garcilaso keeper Diego Carranza deflected his shot away from danger.

In the 66th minute, Real Garcilaso defender Rolando Bogado unintentionally played in Jhon Valencia, who beat Carranza to put his side two goals up.

Seven minutes later Garcilaso were reduced to 10 men after defender Ivan Santillan was shown red after a terrible tackle on Cuero to end his side's chances of progression.

Santa Fe defender Yulian Anchico told Fox Sports: "We don't want to stay in this position, we want more. This is the prize of the effort which the team made.

"They are a great team which made history by playing good football in both the group stage and play-offs. We are proud of us because we beat a big team tonight."
