Cardozo apologises to Jesus

Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo has apologised to the club's fans for shoving coach Jorge Jesus at the end of the Portuguese Cup final defeat to Vitoria Guimaraes on Sunday.

Benfica lost the final 2-1 to cap a fortnight which had seen them lose the Portuguese Liga title and the Europa League final to Chelsea.

But Cardozo has shown remorse, writing on his Facebook page: "I apologise to all Benfica fans and want you to know I have this club in my heart. It was a terrible and nerve wrecking end of season and I hope you never doubt my passion. I love Benfica".

Cardozo, 30, may still be disciplined by the club for his actions, but Jesus is happy to bury the hatchet and said the player apologised to him afterwards.

"Cardozo was hot-headed at that very complicated moment. He later apologised in the locker room," he said.
