Simeone praises Falcao influence

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has admitted his disappointment at the likely exit of Radamel Falcao, but insists the club must be grateful for the Colombia international's service.

Falcao, 27, has scored 28 La Liga goals this season to steer Atletico into third place, but the striker is in line to seal a move to French side Monaco.

It is widely reported that Falcao will undergo a medical at Monaco on Monday and could sign a lucrative deal later this week.

Simeone was pressed on Falcao's future following Atletico's 0-0 draw with Mallorca on Sunday, insisting his side should have won their final match at the Vicente Calderon this season.

"We want to win all our games," Simeone said. "Our intent was clearly there and we had some chances.

"Radamel has given everything to this club. Whatever happens to him, I'll be happy. There is nothing official yet, but if he has to leave, then we are safe in the knowledge that he has given his all for this club."
