Aguero signs new Man City deal

Sergio Aguero has ended speculation about his future by signing a contract extension that keeps him at Manchester City until 2017.

The Argentina international, whose deal had been due to expire in 2016, has committed his future to the 2012 Premier League champions.

Aguero, who joined City from Atletico Madrid for £38 million in 2011, had been linked with Real Madrid - but he has now opted to stay in England.

"I'm very happy at City and I feel very appreciated," he told the club’s official website. "It's been barely two years since I've arrived, and sometimes I feel like I've been here all my life.”

The 24-year-old forward has scored 47 goals in 87 games for City, including the injury-time strike against QPR that decided the 2012 title race.

He added: "I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment.

"Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again."

Aguero follows team-mates David Silva and Yaya Toure in signing a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium, meaning City have ensured that they will keep three of their leading players until 2017.

However, it is uncertain whether the other two senior strikers at the club, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko, will still be there next season, making it more important that they have kept Aguero.
