Lampard confident of Terry stay

Frank Lampard is hopeful a deal can be struck which will see John Terry remain at Chelsea in the long-term.

• Blog: Mourinho's expected Chelsea return

Terry's current contract expires next summer, leading to speculation the former England captain may be forced out of Stamford Bridge in the near future.

However, Lampard is confident that the defender's love for the club will see him stay.

"I know JT will want to stay, he's said he'd love to stay at Chelsea," Lampard told The Sun.

"He feels the same as me. Why play anywhere else when you love the club you're at? JT's captain of the club and does a brilliant job.

"At the start of next season I think that's when the club will take a view on it. I know what my view would be."

Lampard also hit back at criticism of Terry, who joined in the on-field celebrations of recent Champions League and Europa League triumphs with his team-mates, despite not playing in the respective finals.

"John must have been here 14-15 years, right from the youth team," he said. "The fact he couldn't be involved in two big finals was hard to take. He deserves to be involved when we win things, simple as that."
