Muller shrugs off penalty fears

Thomas Muller has said Bayern Munich will not "wet their pants" should Saturday's Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund go to penalties, while the forward feels his team has no weaknesses.

• Delaney: Key personalities
• Brewin: Domestic rivalry
• Bennett: Battle royale

Muller, 23, was one of two Bayern players to miss in the shoot-out at the end of last season's final defeat to Chelsea, but he feels that loss itself has only helped complete a fully developed team.

As such, Muller is not even thinking about possibility of penalties at Wembley Stadium. "I don't know how to reply to this question," Muller said at the pre-match press conference. "You never know who's going to remain on the pitch and always some players are better taking at penalties than others. I don't think anybody is going to wet their pants over it.

"I think last year's final won't have a negative impact on tomorrow, only a positive one because we're motivated. Apart from that, nothing much to say about it. We'll be more attentive in our actions than in a standard scenario. We certainly won't be giving things away. I think it will only sharpen our senses."

"I think we really did play very well last year but up to the 83rd minute we didn't score a goal, and then only the one. That's the thing. So I think maybe in terms of making the most of our opportunities, that maybe cost us the title. We'll have to be more rigorous. I do think we're doing the right things. I think performances have been good and the team has progressed. We're close together and the team is efficient.

"Our weaknesses? Well, maybe you should ask Dortmund what they've decided our weakness are. I can't say I have a feeling we have any weaknesses. We've played a lot of games without any goals being scored against us. Last year was a bit different. I don't know whether there's a weakness there. We feel good about tomorrow."
