Petersen signs Werder deal

Nils Petersen has secured a permanent stay at Werder Bremen after confirming his departure from Bayern Munich by signing a four-year deal at the Weserstadion.

Petersen was eager to prolong his stay at Werder

Petersen, 24, spent last season on loan at Werder and scored 11 Bundesliga goals for the club as they narrowly staved off relegation.

The German, who joined Bayern from Energie Cottbus in 2001, said he is "very pleased that things turned out the way I had wished for".

Meanwhile, Werder's pursuit of Robin Dutt as their new manager is ongoing, with the former Bayer Leverkusen boss currently working for the German football association (DFB).

Dutt is contracted to the DFB until 2016 as its sporting director but Werder are keen to bring him as their new boss after the departure of Thomas Schaaf.

"Because of the importance of the person involved, the DFB board will discuss whether to offer the desired release," the body said in a statement.
