Sinclair has rib removed

Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair will not be able to train for three months after having a rib removed.

Sinclair, 24, missed the end of the season due to a blood clot in his shoulder which has now led to surgery to remove his top rib as it was pushing on a vein and causing the clot.

He has been prescribed warfarin for 12 weeks, a blood-thinning drug, and ordered to rest while he recuperates from the operation.

Doctors will reassess his situation in August and he will only be permitted to return to training when the blood clotting is reduced to acceptable levels.

The former Chelsea and Swansea player struggled to make an impact at City this season and was expected to move on this summer with Aston Villa and Everton reportedly interested.

However, his extended period of rehabilitation will take him close to the end of the summer transfer window, possibly dashing any hopes he had of moving on.
