Moratti 'reflecting' on Stramaccioni

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has admitted he is 'reflecting' on manager Andrea Stramaccioni's position at the club.

• Serie A review
• Blog: Analysing Stramaccioni

Stramaccioni could only guide the Nerazzurri to a disappointing ninth position on the Serie A table, leaving them without a spot in Europe for the first time in 15 seasons.

And despite only recently backing the under-fire coach and telling the club's official website he had no 'doubts' about Stramaccioni, Moratti is now considering life without the 37-year-old.

"I don't like to say that it's the end of an era but we are having another look at the recent events," Moratti told reporters. "Have I changed my mind over the coach? It's not that I've changed my mind but we are reflecting so that we can understand what is best for Inter.

"I haven't spoken to Stramaccioni or anyone else. This is the time for reflection and the reflection will be long."

"On the one hand there is the talent of Stramaccioni, a guy who definitely will be successful in his job; on the other we have the current situation.

"I'm thinking about what is the best choice."

Speculation has already risen that Moratti could be thinking of replacing Stramaccioni with former Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri.

But the 68-year-old was apprehensive to link anyone to the mission that faces Inter next season.

"Mazzarri? All coaches are good, but then they have to work at Inter, which is a different thing," Moratti said.
