Pericard backs Pulis to attract offers

Former Stoke City striker Vincent Pericard believes Tony Pulis' managerial career is far from over.

• Pulis leaves Stoke
• Blog: Time to go for Pulis

Pulis ended his seven-year association with the Potters on Tuesday following discussions with owner Peter Coates, ending months of speculation over his future.

Now out of a job, one of Pulis' former players Pericard, who played under him for three years, believes the manager will not be short of offers from clubs keen to recreate Stoke's success.

"We will only know in the future if Stoke have made a mistake in the future," he told ESPN. "But I would imagine it was a hard decision because of the strong relationship Tony Pulis had with the club.

"Hopefully they've taken the right decision, and it could be the right one. Tony Pulis has been there for seven years and he has done a brilliant job, but maybe they just think it is time for change.

"Obviously you have to look at Tony Pulis as a man and a manager. As a man I think he is brilliant. He is someone you can rely on, someone you can trust and help you in a time of need. As a manager I would say he is not for everyone, because he is very strong, very committed and that's probably why he has been so successful.

"When you're a manager you need to drive the ship and get results, and he's been doing that for seven years. He got them promoted and even to Europa football so you can't really criticise him.

"The fans have come to expect the glamorous football that is being played by clubs like Swansea. We all know people are quick to forget seven years ago when they were in the Championship. They got used to having players like [Peter] Crouch coming and they want that level of football.

"Definitely, he will get back into football. What you're going to get with Tony Pulis is results. He's got a fantastic track record, taking a Championship club to the Premier League and establishing them. I'm sure there are many Championship clubs or even Premier League clubs that want to snap him up as soon as possible because he has that track record."
