Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane has been forced to pull out of next week's glamour friendly against England at Wembley.
LA Galaxy striker Keane will also miss the fixture against Georgia at the Aviva Stadium on June 2nd, but will be available for the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on June 7th in Dublin.
The upcoming friendly fixtures fall outside the official FIFA window for international matches and with Keane required to play in MLS against Seattle Sounders and New England Revolution, has not been released to play for his country.
Despite being aware of Keane's probable absence for the warm-up games, Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni remains committed to picking the nation's all-time record goal scorer for the clash against the Faroe Islands, despite his indifferent displays since moving to Los Angeles.
Returning only recently from an ankle problem, the Irishman has scored two goals in his five starts in the MLS this season, while also providing three assists in a season that has not gone according to plan for the Galaxy.
