Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler could return to the Premier League after his agent confirmed rumours linking the former Manchester United reserve player with a switch to Liverpool.
Germany international Zieler, 24, joined Hannover from United in 2010 and is part of Joachim Low’s squad to face Ecuador and the United States later this month.
On Tuesday his agent Gunter Neuhaus told Bild of Liverpool’s interest, saying: “They have set their sights on him.” According to the paper the right time for signing Zieler up might have passed, with a buy-out clause allowing him to leave for €8 million expiring on May 1.
This season Zieler stood behind a shaky Hannover defence which conceded 62 goals, the third most in the Bundesliga and German football paper kicker does not list the shot-stopper among its top ten goalkeepers for the campaign.
However, he has not missed a Bundesliga game for Hannover in more than two years and has featured in 74 consecutive matches for the Lower Saxony side that ended the season ranked ninth.
