Girard wants next job to be in England
Rene Girard has reaffirmed his desire to pursue his coaching career in England as he prepares to leave his job at Montpellier.
Girard, 59, will quit the team he led to the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title when his contract expires this summer, and after being carried off shoulder-high by his team following his final home game of the season last Saturday, the former French Under-21 international is looking ahead to what happens after next Sunday's last match of the campaign at Toulouse.
"I'm heading off for a new challenge," Girard, who has been at Montpellier since 2009, told RMC. "My wish would be to try a new adventure abroad, discover something new.
"In France, the seven or eight clubs that could give me better than what I had in Montpellier are already taken. The coaches are nicely settled and are doing good work. My preference is for England, it's a country which attracts me a lot."
Girard already stated his desire to work on the opposite side of the Channel in a recent interview which appeared in The Telegraph last month.
