Laudrup searching for 'another Michu'
Swansea manager Michael Laudrup admits his first priority over the summer is to recruit a striker who can take the burden off the club's top goalscorer Michu next season.
Michu, 27, scored 18 of Swansea's 47 league goals this season to finish as the competition's fifth top scorer and Laudrup believes his side could have finished higher than ninth if the Spaniard had a prolific strike partner.
Michu moved to the Liberty Stadium for just £2 million last summer and Laudrup admits it will be difficult to find another player of Michu's quality for such a low price, but he insists preparations are underway to find a goalscorer who fits into the club's budget.
"It's difficult because, firstly, everyone wants players who score goals and secondly they are the most expensive.
"Can we get another Michu? I hope so but it's not easy. There are some out there but other clubs want them as well and we are not financially the most powerful of the 20 clubs in the Premier League. Goals are money and you have to pay.
"You can't think you can find a top scorer for free. We almost did it last year but you don't win the lottery every time.
"We hope and we will work and I may get excited when we get the one we want - but I know it is one thing to do the research, to put the name on paper, to think you have a chance, but it is another to sign them."
He added: "In some games we have not been effective enough in front of goal and that's why we have to add some more goals," he said. "We scored 47 but I think we can easily add 10 or 12 to that next season.
"Again, a major part of that is that our goals this season have had the name of one person so we have to split the responsibility of the goals.
"But we have known that for a while and we have been working on it for a long time - but we know it is the most difficult thing to get someone to score goals."
