Roura hails Barca's spirit

Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura has hailed the resilience and consistency of the team after they defeated Real Valladolid 2-1 to remain on course for 100 competition points.

The home side were given a guard of honour by Vallodolid before the match as Pedro opened the scoring before an own goal to Marc Valiente sealed the points.

However, as the rain tumbled at the Camp Nou, Roura took time to praise the character of his team as they hoisted the La Liga trophy in front of their own supporters.

"We've had to overcome many difficulties, we're very pleased with the work everyone put in," said Roura on the club's official website. "Throughout the year we've had a handful of crucial moments. The first games of the season were key thanks to our consistency, we had the best start to La Liga in the history of the competition.

"Since January people assumed the league was already over but that wasn't the case, we had to win each week. We could have relaxed, but that didn't happen, we maintained the necessary consistency to win the title and with an extremely high amount of points."

Roura, though, insists that while the 100-point milestone is a motivation for the squad, the health of the players will not be compromised as they chase their last remaining goal of the season.

"We were coming off of a very long week, but we were able to work well and recover. We had a lot of players to choose from and we wanted to send out the most competitive team. We didn't do it because we want to equal the 100 point record. If we can do it, it'll be a good memory; the record excites us," he explained.
