Fergie: Go and win three in a row

Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United to carry on his legacy by winning three Premier League titles in a row.

• Wenger had retirement inkling
• Rooney transfer request
• Sir Alex: December decision
• Fergie urges support for Moyes
• Jolly: Long live the king

United won the Premier League title with four games to spare, but typically Ferguson is already eyeing more success even though he is retiring in the summer. Speaking at the club's trophy parade he challenged his squad to continue their winning habit under his successor, David Moyes.

He said: "This is fantastic. I'm more pleased for you than anything else. You go through a 38-game programme in the division and win it, and win it in style with a great bunch of players.

"It's a young squad, with a lot of good young players, and a lot of them are going to get better, and the big test is to win it three times in a row, as they've done before, so I hope the boys can do that.

Ferguson also paid tribute to the fans for their part in the 2-1 victory against Swansea, his final game in charge of United at Old Trafford.

He added: "Yesterday was a day I will never forget. It will live in my memory. All of my family will never forget it. The memory will live with my grandchildren for many, many years.

"Tomorrow night [Tuesday] our Under-21s play Liverpool, that mob from across the road, so I hope some of you will come and cheer the young lads on. It will be good of you. Thank you very much."

Ryan Giggs, who has played a part in virtually all of Ferguson's 38 trophies, was delighted United managed to provide a fitting send-off.

"It has been tough, especially for the players who have known him for a long time," Giggs said. "We are delighted that we were able to end on a high and won the league in his last season."

Coach Rene Meulensteen said he had never known an atmosphere like the one he experienced at Old Trafford for Ferguson's farewell.

"After Rio got his winner, I have never seen Old Trafford like that," he said. "It was an unbelievable experience."

Meanwhile, Jonny Evans was embarrassed by his fiancee, MUTV reporter Helen McConnell, who was asking questions on the bus.

"Are you going to have a good summer?" she asked. "Yes," replied Evans. "I am getting married to you, Helen."

Wayne Rooney was also on the bus. However, he was not asked by MUTV to do any interviews and he endured a mixed reception from the fans.
