Klopp: No question of duo's allegiance

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has told kicker that there will be no doubting the commitment of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski when they line up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

• Half a million want UCL final tickets
• Bierhoff eyes springboard to glory

Gotze will leave Dortmund for Bayern this summer after a £32 million deal was agreed between the two clubs last month, while Lewandowski has also been heavily tipped to join the Bavarians at the end of the season. However, Klopp believes there will only be complete commitment from two of his star players.

"It would be a thousand times better for both to join their new club as Champions League winners instead of joining the treble winners," Klopp said in kicker.

"There are better moments for a coach or a player than joining a club at the time of its biggest success. I am sure as death Mario and Robert will only think about winning the trophy for Borussia Dortmund on May 25."

Gotze is set to return to training this Monday after suffering a muscle injury during the opening minutes of the club's Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, though he will initially build up his fitness alone before joining his team-mates.

"One week of full-team training ahead of London, that would be a nearly perfect constellation," Klopp said on Gotze's chances of returning in time."

Former Bayern and Dortmund coach Ottmar Hitzfeld last Friday upped the pressure on the Bundesliga champions ahead of the all-German final, claiming that defeat for Bayern at Wembley would be fatal after their heart-breaking loss to Chelsea last season.

However Klopp said: "I can't and don't want to look at this game from standpoints like this. Even if Bayern will hear a lot of stories that they've lost the one or the other big final in the past: We need to take care of the things relating to us.

"This event is too wonderful and terrific to find a negative approach to it. We want to win that match because we want to win. And not so that Bayern loses."

Klopp admitted his side will be underdogs and that Dortmund's players will all need to be at their best to claim the club's first Champions League trophy since 1997.

"If somebody fears the wood, then he fears the wood," Klopp said. "We have nothing to lose and all to play for. If Bayern are smart they will also see it that way. Then it will only be about the title that is there to win on May 25.

"That's what you should care about – and don't think about what you could lose. You still have time to do that once you have lost. We will not waste any thought on it before."
