Terry doubtful for Europa League final

Chelsea captain John Terry has said he is facing an anxious wait to discover whether he will miss a second successive major European final for the Blues this Wednesday.

Terry was suspended for last season's Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich and, 12 months later, is at risk of sitting out the Europa League final after coming off injured in the Blues' 2-1 Premier League victory at Aston Villa on Saturday.

The former England international suffered an ankle injury after colliding with Villa defender Nathan Baker and was stretchered off.

And he is unsure if he will recover in time to face Benfica in Wednesday's Europa League showpiece in Amsterdam.

"It is my ankle. I'm going to get it scanned. I don't know if I'll be fit for Wednesday at the moment," he told the Daily Mirror.

Chelsea's all-time leading scorer Frank Lampard, who beat Bobby Tambling's long-standing record with a brace against Villa, said:"I am gutted for him because I know how difficult that was for him, missing the game last year.

"But whatever we do as a club, John is part of it. We win things together."
