PSG chief expects Ancelotti to stay

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Carlo Ancelotti was delighted after his side sealed the Ligue 1 title but refused to commit his future to the club.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reminded Carlo Ancelotti "contracts are generally made to be respected" with speculation continuing that the Ligue 1 title-winning coach will quit the Parc des Princes.

Ancelotti, 53, has frequently stated his future would be up for discussion once the French top-flight crown was secured. With his team's 1-0 win at Lyon on Sunday having done that, the Italian's position is next on the agenda.

The former Chelsea coach is widely expected to replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this summer, but with his contract automatically extended by a year beyond the current campaign by virtue of PSG having finished in the top three in France this season, Al-Khelaifi sent Ancelotti a gentle reminder.

"I don't know when the discussions will take place with Carlo Ancelotti about his future," the 39-year-old said. "For the moment, we're going to enjoy the title. The coach still has a year on his contract, and contracts are generally made to be respected."

Ancelotti brushed off questions about his job post-match at Stade Gerland, instead praising his players' efforts and singling out Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular. The 31-year-old Swedish striker returned the compliment by adding his voice to those calling on the coach to remain in the French capital.

"I hope Carlo Ancelotti is going to stay," Ibrahimovic said. "He's a very good coach. He's given me the peace I needed during a season which has not been easy for anyone."
