Adebayor eager to 'kill' Arsenal

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said he hopes to "kill" Arsenal's hopes of a top four finish with successive wins to end the season as Spurs fight to secure Champions League football.

Adebayor, 29, scored his fourth league goal of the season in the midweek 2-2 draw with Chelsea and looked in good touch despite having a difficult season under Andre Villas-Boas.

The Tottenham boss hit out at recent criticism of Adebayor's form and the Togo international believes he can be the driving force in Spurs' top-four charge, which rests on his former club Arsenal slipping up.

"My head, my concentration, my focus, my life belongs to Tottenham. Arsenal was a different life. Now, I prefer Tottenham and everything belongs to Tottenham. I don't care what Arsenal do, what they achieve. That's not my problem anymore," he told The Mirror.

"If I can kill them, I will definitely kill them because we are in a game where you have to do your best for your team. And now I'm in Tottenham, I have to give everything to Tottenham. Of course, Arsenal can drop points. Why not? They have dropped points throughout the season and they can drop points again now."

Tottenham travel to the Britannia Stadium on Sunday requiring all three points to keep the pace with Arsenal, who host Wigan on Tuesday.

Adebayor has urged his team-mates to focus on finishing the season with maximum points rather than worrying about the results of their fellow top-four contenders.

"We have two games more and if we talk more about Arsenal and Chelsea, that will kill us. We don't have a choice, we have to beat Stoke and take six points from our last two games," he added.

"I don't see why we can't finish in the top four this year. We just have to keep the belief alive. No matter what, we have to get into the Champions League and I am positive we will."
